if it is not safe to administer benzodiazepine type drugs (such as valium ) and concomitamtly administer n2o/02- with o2 flow providing more 02 than that available in ambient air and simultaneously being monitored and recorded w pulse oximiter/ b.p. monitor with audible tones for abnormal readings, how would it be safe to allow any patient to self administer the same drug in who knows what dose they may take it - and breathe room air (20% 02). there'd be dead or brain damaged people all over the place---which is safer? DUH!!!
ps whats the clinical evidence (remember the cry for edidence based dentistry?) of morbidity and mortality to cause such a change in rules?
